Mystery Surrounds £1M Royal House Next to Prince William’s Adelaide Cottage as It Sits Unused!
Prince William and Princess Kate are reportedly considering a renovation project to address their space needs—by transforming an abandoned annexe next to their Windsor home, Adelaide Cottage. The redbrick building, which has been left neglected, is now under consideration for a potential upgrade by the Prince and Princess of Wales.
A source revealed that the couple is exploring plans to renovate the annexe, which would provide additional living space and, crucially, take them out of contention for the Royal Lodge, a larger royal residence that has been speculated as a future home for the couple. “There is quite a sizeable property that has just been left abandoned next to Adelaide Cottage,” the source disclosed. “Renovating it would offer them ample room and take them off the consideration list for Royal Lodge.”
Since moving to the Berkshire estate in the summer of 2022, the Wales family has divided their time between the four-bedroom Adelaide Cottage and Anmer Hall, their beloved retreat on the Sandringham Estate. While Adelaide Cottage is conveniently located near Lambrook School, where Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis attend, the family reportedly sees the potential in the £1 million annexe as a solution to their space constraints.
William is said to be “conscious of public scrutiny” regarding royal expenses and is carefully considering how to personally manage the costs of any renovation. According to the source, while plans to upgrade the £1 million annexe have been in quiet discussions, the timing of when to proceed has been a key consideration.
“The property is currently uninhabitable and requires extensive renovation if it’s to be used,” the source explained. “Discussions about incorporating it into the overall cottage grounds have been ongoing, but it’s a matter of timing.”
As the family continues to settle into their Windsor home, the decision to renovate the annexe could offer the additional space they need without the complications of relocating to a larger royal residence like the Royal Lodge.
