Prince Harry’s Relationship with Royals at Risk as New Documentary Drops: ‘It Could Be a Major Blow,’ Warns Expert
Prince Harry’s already fragile relationship with the Royal family could face further strain with the release of a new documentary chronicling his and Meghan Markle’s life. Although the film has launched on Germany’s ZDF network and won’t be released in the U.S., royal commentator Duncan Larcombe warns that it could still damage Harry’s reputation with King Charles and other family members.
Speaking to The Mirror, Larcombe explained that while there have been signs of a potential thaw in Harry’s relationship with the Royals, the documentary could derail any progress. “It’s hard to say if the documentary will impact Harry’s relationship with the royals because there are signs that things might be thawing,” he said.
He also noted that Harry and Meghan have remained relatively quiet since the publication of Harry’s memoir, Spare, in January. “It’s been quite a long time now since Harry and Meghan have dropped any bombshells,” Larcombe pointed out. “Since Harry’s book Spare came out in January, it’s been a relatively quiet time and he’s kept his mouth shut.”
Despite brief meetings between Harry and his father, King Charles, Larcombe expressed concern that the documentary could halt any reconciliation efforts. “Since then, he’s met up with his dad – albeit very briefly. It would be a real shame if the documentary put those possibilities of a thawing in the relationship back a peg or two,” he stated.
Larcombe further emphasized that the documentary’s continuation of the couple’s narrative against the Royal family would likely be damaging, even if it doesn’t create a storm in the U.S. “I think any documentary that continues the criticism of Harry and Meghan’s modus operandi is going to be damaging,” he warned. “It’s in Germany, so it’s probably not going to make a big storm over in the US.
But it’s still a major blow for a couple who have seen their popularity plummet like a stone falling in a well since they left the UK.” As the couple faces renewed scrutiny, the new documentary could prove to be a significant hurdle for Harry and Meghan’s future relationship with the Royal family.
