Prince Harry has faced fresh criticism after his latest Netflix documentary series about polo excluded the Royal Family, particularly their long-standing connection to the sport.

The Duke of Sussex’s new five-part series has been accused of “erasing” the Royal Family’s deep ties to polo, with royal experts noting the glaring omission of Prince William, a well-known enthusiast of the game.

Speaking on GB News, host Andrew Pierce and royal reporter Sarah Louise Robertson weighed in on the documentary, criticizing Harry for distancing himself from his British roots.

“There’s a big gap in this because, of course, polo is the favorite sport of Prince William, and he isn’t appearing in the documentary because he’s not speaking to his brother,” Pierce said. He added, “I mean, you can’t do a polo documentary, frankly, about Prince Harry if you don’t include the British Royal Family in it, because they’ve been playing polo for decades.”

Robertson echoed the sentiment, pointing out the complete lack of acknowledgment of Harry’s royal background. “There is no mention of them whatsoever. It’s almost like Harry’s just erased how he got into the game in this,” she remarked.

The royal expert further noted Harry’s choice to focus solely on his polo experiences in the United States and charity matches in Africa. “That’s very interesting. He’s focusing solely on playing polo where he is now in the United States, and also when he plays for charity over in Africa. It’s like he’s just eliminated that history,” Robertson observed.

Discussing Harry’s limited role in the series, Robertson offered a warning to fans expecting to see him in a starring capacity. “If Harry fans are expecting to see another Heart of Invictus or their first Netflix documentary where he’s taking a starring role, they will sadly be disappointed,” she said.

The exclusion of the Royal Family—especially Prince William—has reignited speculation about Harry’s efforts to further distance himself from his British heritage. Critics argue that leaving out the Royals undermines the significance of the sport, given its historic ties to generations of the British monarchy.

While Harry’s documentary focuses on his present-day polo journey, royal commentators suggest the decision to omit his royal past sends a clear message about his evolving relationship with the monarchy—and his brother, Prince William.
