Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s ambitions to become successful producers appear to be crumbling after their latest Netflix project failed to resonate with audiences.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, who had high hopes for their new polo-themed documentary, are now facing criticism from royal experts, with claims that Netflix may not renew their multi-million dollar contract.

According to The Express, TalkTV host Kevin O’Sullivan did not mince words while discussing the couple’s latest venture on What Just Happened. O’Sullivan criticized the project’s performance and said it marked the beginning of the end for Harry and Meghan’s entertainment aspirations.

“Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s career as TV producers has fallen like a horse at the first hurdle, and now their $100 million [contract with Netflix] is all but over,” O’Sullivan stated.

He continued his harsh critique, saying, “After the disastrous release of their big new Netflix series Polo, the chances of the streaming giant renewing their gruesome twosome’s lucrative contract are virtually zero. Their naive dream of turning into titans of the TV industry is dead in the water. No happy Hollywood ending for them.”

The couple’s collaboration with Netflix, a reported $100 million deal struck in 2020, was expected to yield groundbreaking content and solidify Harry and Meghan as forces in the entertainment industry. However, the lackluster reception of the polo documentary has led to mounting skepticism over their ability to deliver hits.

While the couple saw some success with earlier Netflix projects, including their controversial docuseries Harry & Meghan, this latest setback has fueled doubts about their long-term viability in Hollywood. The polo documentary’s failure to engage viewers suggests a diminishing interest in their creative ventures outside the royal spotlight.

Royal commentators believe this latest flop highlights the couple’s struggle to build a sustainable production career. Without a strong viewership or critical acclaim, their future with Netflix remains uncertain.

Whether Harry and Meghan can bounce back from this disappointment is yet to be seen, but for now, as O’Sullivan harshly put it, their “naive dream” of becoming Hollywood producers seems to be “dead in the water.” The couple’s next move could be critical in determining if their Netflix deal—and their entertainment ambitions—can be salvaged.
