‘Doors are firmly shut’: Harry and Meghan won’t be welcomed back into Royal family
Following Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s decision to step back from their roles within the British Royal Family in 2020, speculation has been rife about the possibility of their reintegration into the royal fold. However, insights from a former royal butler suggest that such a reconciliation may be unlikely due to the lingering tensions and the fallout from their departure, often referred to as “Megxit.”
In an interview with The Express, Paul Burrell, who served Princess Diana from 1987 to 1997, shared his perspective on the strained relations between the Sussexes and the rest of the Royal Family. According to Burrell, the Royal Family harbors deep-seated reservations about welcoming Prince Harry and Meghan Markle back, primarily due to the series of public criticisms and revelations the couple has made since their exit.
Burrell emphasized the absence of a pathway for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, along with their children, to re-enter the royal circle. He stated, “I don’t think they will ever be invited back with open arms.” He further noted that the Royal Family appears to have adopted a strategy of consolidation, focusing on maintaining a united front and managing affairs privately, without external distractions.
This approach, Burrell suggests, leaves little room for Harry and Meghan to reassume their former roles or positions within the family dynamics. Moreover, Burrell hinted at Meghan Markle’s potential plans to publish a memoir, which would presumably offer her perspective on the events leading up to and following their departure from royal duties.
This move, following Prince Harry’s foray into autobiographical writing, could further complicate any attempts at reconciliation, as it might introduce new revelations or contentions. The insights provided by Burrell paint a picture of a Royal Family in a state of self-preservation, keen on safeguarding its image and internal cohesion in the wake of the challenges posed by the Sussexes’ departure and subsequent actions. As the situation stands, the likelihood of Harry and Meghan’s return to the royal fold appears slim, with both sides seemingly entrenched in their respective positions and narratives.
