Royal Commentator Criticizes Prince Harry and Meghan’s Security Team, Calls for Action on Their “Shocking” Decision
Following Meghan Markle’s recent speech about her afterschool ritual, the Duchess and Prince Harry made headlines once again as their spokesperson released a statement regarding a “near catastrophic” car chase in New York. Royal commentator Victoria Arbiter has voiced her concern over a potentially shocking decision made by Prince Harry and Meghan’s security team.
According to reports, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex left the Ms. Foundation’s Women of Vision Awards on May 16 in a black SUV but later switched to a New York taxicab. The taxi driver has since shared details about the intense experience as paparazzi relentlessly pursued the royal couple.
In a Twitter post responding to the Sussexes’ statement, Victoria expressed her belief that if it was indeed the security team’s decision to switch the royals from an SUV to a taxi, they should face consequences, including being fired. She deemed the idea “shocking,” emphasizing that a New York taxi driver would lack experience in handling flashbulbs or driving defensively, which highlights the importance of hiring professional security personnel.
Although acknowledging that there are still unanswered questions surrounding the incident, Victoria stood by her criticism of the decision to place the couple in a vehicle driven by an inexperienced individual, particularly in a defensive driving situation. She suggested that they would have been better off traveling in a police car with sirens on to ensure their safety.
In their official statement, Prince Harry and Meghan’s spokesperson described the situation as a result of being followed by a “ring of highly aggressive paparazzi.” The pursuit reportedly lasted for over two hours, emphasizing the intrusive nature and relentless pursuit they faced.
