“This Whole ‘They’re Weird’ Argument is Dumb & Juvenile,” Says Ramaswamy Amid Backlash

Vivek Ramaswamy, a former GOP presidential candidate and current ally of Donald Trump, faced accusations of hypocrisy after his latest defense of Trump and his running mate, Sen. J.D. Vance. The controversy intensified after Vance addressed the comments on social media, prompting one GOP strategist to remark, “Sarah Palin didn’t collapse this badly this fast.”

On Sunday, Ramaswamy attempted to counter the criticisms. “This whole ‘they’re weird’ argument from the Democrats is dumb & juvenile,” he asserted. “This is a presidential election, not a high school prom queen contest.” Ramaswamy continued, “It’s also a tad ironic coming from the party that preaches ‘diversity & inclusion.’ Win on policy if you can, but cut the crap please.”

The backlash was swift and severe. Fred Guttenberg, whose daughter Jaimie was killed in the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School shooting in Parkland, Florida, responded, “You guys are weird. But don’t care about that. I care about your allegiance to a damaged and demented con and the threat that you all pose to Democracy. Weird or not, you will be defeated in this election. Stop whining and go away.”

David Hogg, a gun control activist, also weighed in, “Dumb and f—— juvenile? Trump literally jokes about the size of his d— on national TV. Also if you gotta say you aren’t weird – I got bad news for ya.”

The criticisms did not stop there. Conservative Army Iraq War Veteran Peter Henlein remarked, “The hypocrisy is so thick you could almost drown in it.” Former prosecutor Ron Filipkowski added his voice to the criticism, saying, “A finalist for Weirdo Hall of Fame checks in.”

The controversy was further fueled by @PatriotTakes, who highlighted a 2021 quote from Ramaswamy criticizing the term “people of color.” He had said, “It sounds like a weird cult and it wrongly combines hundreds of different races into one.”

As the political landscape continues to heat up, Ramaswamy’s comments and the subsequent backlash highlight the deep divisions and intense emotions surrounding the upcoming election. His defense of Trump and Vance, aimed at shifting the focus to policy, instead drew attention to the perceived inconsistencies and hypocrisies within the GOP, further polarizing the debate.
