Obama’s uncovered love letter to ex-girlfriend: ‘I make love to men daily, but in the imagination’
In a 1982 letter, former President Barack Obama penned his thoughts about his imagination and the nature of human desires. The correspondence, now archived at Emory University, was addressed to Alex McNear, whom Obama dated during his time at Occidental College in Los Angeles, the New York Post reports.
Discussing various facets of human experience, Obama wrote, “In regard to homosexuality… I make love to men daily but in the imagination.” Noted historian and biographer, David Garrow, while researching for his book “Rising Star: The Making of Barack Obama,” transcribed this letter by hand as photography was not allowed.
My mind is androgynous to a great extent and I hope to make it more so until I can think in terms of people, not women as opposed to men,” Obama continued. “But, in returning to the body, I see that I have been made a man, and physically in life, I choose to accept that contingency.”
The book, with Obama’s collaboration, also brought to light that he had proposed to another individual in 1986 before eventually marrying Michelle in 1992, with whom he shares two daughters, Sasha and Malia.
