In a recent episode of The Daily Show, host Michael Kosta delivered a biting critique of Nikki Haley’s endorsement of former President Donald Trump, highlighting what he perceives as blatant hypocrisy. Kosta expressed his astonishment and frustration over Haley’s sudden support for Trump, especially after a series of public spats and critical comments she made about him, as reported by HuffPost.

“What the hell, Nikki?” Kosta exclaimed, dismayed by the turnaround in Haley’s stance. During the segment, Kosta pointed out the inconsistency in Haley’s actions, noting, “Every loser ends up supporting their party’s nominee…made this whole big show about withholding her support…and then she gave it up for nothing.” He jokingly added, “Haley would make the worst kidnapper ever…I’m sure it will be worth it and Trump will reward her for it.

Enjoy being an ambassador to those islands where the nuclear bombs get tested, Nikki,” underscoring his doubts about any real political gain for Haley from her endorsement. Haley’s endorsement came during a speech at the Hudson Institute in Washington, D.C., where she said, “I will be voting for Trump. Having said that, I stand by what I said in my suspension speech.”

This was a significant shift from her previous remarks where she had labeled Trump as ‘unhinged’ and criticized his fitness for the presidency, particularly after disparaging comments about her deployed husband. Reflecting on her March suspension speech, Haley quoted Margaret Thatcher, emphasizing the importance of independent thought and not just following the crowd.

As per CNN, She had expressed hope that Trump would work to earn the votes of those who did not support him initially. “At its best, politics is about bringing people into your cause, not turning them away. And our conservative cause badly needs more people. This is now his time for choosing,” Haley had stated, setting a tone that seemed to demand greater inclusivity and outreach from Trump.

However, in a recent post on his Truth Social platform, Trump made it clear that Haley “is not under consideration” to be his vice presidential candidate, indicating ongoing tensions between the two. Meanwhile, the Biden campaign quickly responded to Haley’s endorsement, emphasizing that it changes nothing for the Republican voters who oppose Trump and value democracy, alliances, and bipartisanship over division and chaos.

In her endorsement speech, Haley acknowledged her disagreements with Trump on key policy areas such as foreign policy, immigration, and economic issues but described President Joe Biden as a “catastrophe,” suggesting her support for Trump was the lesser of two evils in her view. This decision and its public reception continue to stir debate and criticism, as highlighted by Kosta’s scathing commentary.
