Rep. Mike Johnson nails DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas on censoring ‘disinformation’
Earlier, as we reported, Alejandro Mayorkas, the Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security, found himself at the receiving end of a strong verbal reprimand from Rep. Chip Roy. The Congressman challenged Mayorkas over his false claims regarding Border Patrol agents allegedly “whipping migrants” and more.
Recall that a federal judge instructed the government to cease censorship of people’s social media activities. While Mayorkas refutes that his department carries out such actions, it does maintain a subcommittee dedicated to combatting misinformation and disinformation.
In an interesting interaction, Rep. Mike Johnson reminded Mayorkas of First Amendment rights, but not before questioning the Secretary’s daily duties, given that border security doesn’t seem to be among them. The exchange is a bit lengthy, but it is certainly worth a watch:

These individuals often assert that they only monitor the spread of disinformation by foreign entities, such as the claim of Russia planted a laptop in a repair shop.
