“I Was Betrayed by the Bidens”: Jill Biden’s Ex-Husband Claims Joe Stole His Story and Wife
A love triangle involving First Lady Jill Biden, her ex-husband Bill Stevenson, and President Joe Biden has resurfaced old tensions and stories. During an interview with Newsmax, Stevenson, a Delaware businessman, made claims that go beyond just a broken marriage—he accused Joe Biden of stealing his personal story, moments after hearing it, in an incident that allegedly took place in the 1970s.
Stevenson, now 75, said the episode happened while Biden was running for the U.S. Senate in 1972. According to Stevenson, Biden visited his newly opened nightclub in Newark, Delaware. During this visit, Stevenson shared an anecdote with Biden about his preschool football coach. The story involved Stevenson’s mother asking why the game schedule was posted in the women’s bathroom. The coach’s response? “That’s where our schedule belongs: in the ladies’ room,” implying that the team was playing poorly, like “a bunch of girls.”
A Story “Stolen” by Biden?
What happened next is what left Stevenson shocked. Within two hours, Biden allegedly took the story and told it to the club’s bouncers, who were University of Delaware football players. Stevenson claims Biden passed the story off as his own, right in front of him. “I just stared at him in shock,” Stevenson recalled. “He just acted like it was his own story. I just told myself, ‘This must be what politicians are like.'”
A Complicated Past
The relationship between Stevenson, Jill, and Joe Biden goes back even further. According to Stevenson, he met Jill on a beach in Ocean City, New Jersey, when they were both students at the same university. The couple married in 1970 but separated five years later in 1975. As their marriage unraveled, Stevenson claims that Joe Biden, who had been his friend, began seeing Jill behind his back, per The List.
“I was betrayed by the Bidens,” Stevenson told Inside Edition. “Joe was my friend. Jill was my wife.” Stevenson also alleged that Biden tried to intimidate him through his brother, Frankie Biden, adding another layer of tension to their already strained relationship.
The Bidens’ Love Story
In contrast, the Bidens have consistently shared a different version of events. According to Joe Biden, he met Jill in 1975 when his brother, Frankie, introduced them. Biden claims the two went on a blind date, and the rest is history. Jill herself denies the allegations made by Stevenson. In her memoir Where the Light Enters, Jill rubbished claims that she had cheated on Stevenson with Biden, describing their early relationship as fated. “I truly believed we were destined for each other… looking back, it may seem like a mistake of youth,” she wrote.
A Messy Divorce and Public Denials
Despite the bitterness of their divorce, Stevenson has spoken positively about Jill’s character, admitting, “Everyone who meets Jill falls in love with her immediately. It’s hard not to.” However, he remains firm in his belief that Joe and Jill were together before his marriage ended.
Jill Biden’s spokesperson has been quick to dismiss these claims, stating that “these claims are fictitious” and accusing Stevenson of using the allegations to promote his book. “The relationship of Joe and Jill Biden is well documented,” the spokesperson added. As the Bidens continue to present their long-lasting love story, Stevenson’s version serves as a stark contrast, filled with accusations of betrayal, stolen stories, and political maneuvering.
