First Lady Stands Up Against Attacks on Son: ‘I think what they are doing to Hunter is cruel’
In a candid expression of maternal concern, US First Lady Jill Biden strongly defended her son Hunter against what she termed “cruel” attacks from Republican critics. Her remarks come as President Joe Biden intensifies his re-election efforts.
The First Lady’s defense was prompted by recent events in Congress, where a lawmaker displayed explicit photos of Hunter Biden, reflecting the extent to which he has become a focal point for Republican attacks. These tactics are part of a broader strategy to undermine President Biden before the November election.
Speaking on MSNBC‘s “Morning Joe,” Jill Biden voiced her distress over the treatment of her son. “I think what they are doing to Hunter is cruel. And I´m really proud of how Hunter has rebuilt his life after addiction,” she stated. Emphasizing her familial bonds, she added, “You know, I love my son. And it´s hurt my grandchildren, and that´s what I´m so concerned about that. It´s affecting their lives as well.”
This statement marks one of the few occasions the First Lady has publicly defended Hunter, who has struggled with addiction and is currently embroiled in legal difficulties. Nevertheless, Jill Biden has been increasingly visible in supporting her husband’s bid for a second presidential term.
Amid these personal challenges, Republicans have initiated an impeachment inquiry against Joe Biden based on allegations for which they have yet to provide concrete evidence.
