Marvel strongly refuses to replace Jonathan Majors with Will Smith
Despite speculation, Marvel Studios has firmly rejected the idea of casting Will Smith as a replacement for Jonathan Majors. Following Majors’ exit due to a sexual harassment conviction, online rumors suggested that Smith might be considered for upcoming Marvel projects.
However, a source has confirmed to the Daily Mail that this is not the case, likening the idea of replacing Majors with Smith to swapping “baggage with more baggage.”
Deliberations about recasting or rewriting roles previously intended for Majors are ongoing, but the studio has made it clear that Smith is not in contention. Eric Schiffer, a reputation expert, spoke to the Daily Mail about the potential casting of Smith. He described it as a “deluded and reckless bloodbath,” predicting a strong negative reaction from fans.
Schiffer also suggested that being overlooked by Marvel might be beneficial for Smith, given his current controversial image stemming from the 2022 Oscars incident and disclosures in his wife Jada Pinkett Smith’s memoir, “Worthy.” He further speculated that 2024 is unlikely to be the year Smith’s reputation sees a turnaround.
