Justin Timberlake Considers Opening Up to Oprah Amid Ongoing Britney Spears Controversy
Justin Timberlake finds himself embroiled in controversy again, this time over remarks perceived as indirect references to his former girlfriend, Britney Spears. Following Spears’ explosive revelations in her memoir, “The Woman In Me,” Timberlake is reportedly contemplating an in-depth interview to present his perspective on the matter.
The release of Timberlake’s new single “Selfish,” his first in five years, was overshadowed by the resurgence of his past relationship with Spears. The pop star’s fans rallied behind her, propelling her 2011 hit “Gimme More” up the charts and shifting the conversation away from Timberlake’s latest work.
“Justin is really not pleased with how things have unfolded. He hoped his new music would be the focus, but the narrative has shifted away from that,” a source revealed to The Sun (via Daily Mail).
Timberlake, 43, faced backlash recently for comments made during a concert that seemed to target Spears, further intensifying the scrutiny. “His onstage remarks have exacerbated the situation,” the source noted. “The possibility of a candid interview with someone of Oprah Winfrey’s caliber had been considered previously and is now being revisited as a serious option.”
Spears’ memoir reopened old wounds, with the pop icon alleging that Timberlake coerced her into an abortion during their teenage relationship and accusing him of infidelity, among other charges.
In the wake of the memoir’s fallout, Timberlake faced significant backlash, leading him to disable comments on his Instagram, and his wife, Jessica Biel, was also compelled to do the same.
