Jay-Z thrashes 2024 Grammys for snubbing wife Beyonce once again
Jay-Z expressed his dissatisfaction with the Grammy Awards for once again overlooking his wife, Beyoncé, in the Album of the Year category during the ceremony. The rapper, accompanied by his daughter Blue Ivy while accepting the Dr. Dre Global Impact Award, took a moment to address the perceived snub by the Grammys.
In his acceptance speech, the 54-year-old hip-hop artist called out the Grammys and urged them to rectify the situation. He acknowledged the subjective nature of music and the opinion-based judgments surrounding it but emphasized the importance of fairness, reported Variety.
Jay-Z then turned his attention to Beyoncé, highlighting her remarkable achievement of winning a record 32 Grammy Awards but never clinching the top honor of Album of the Year. He pointed out the inconsistency of this fact, even within the Grammys’ metrics.
“The most Grammys. Never won album of the year. That doesn’t work,” he remarked, prompting an audible reaction from the audience. Jay-Z candidly noted that some attendees might feel they’ve been unjustly treated, while others may genuinely not belong in their respective categories.
Concluding his remarks, Jay-Z stressed the importance of perseverance and determination in the face of such challenges. He encouraged artists to continue showing up and striving for recognition until they receive the accolades they believe they deserve, including titles like Chairman, genius, and the greatest of all time.
