Angelina Jolie Reveals Why Her Children May Stay Behind the Camera
Angelina Jolie recently opened up about her children’s potential career paths, sharing rare insights into whether they may follow in her footsteps in the entertainment industry. Speaking with E! News at the Los Angeles premiere of her new film Maria, Jolie, who co-parents six children with ex-husband Brad Pitt, expressed that her children are likely to remain behind the scenes rather than pursuing on-camera roles.
For context, Jolie’s children include Maddox, 23, Pax, 20, Zahara, 19, Shiloh, 18, and twins Vivienne and Knox, who are 16. The Maleficent star revealed that she has no expectations for her children to appear on screen. “No, I think they’re especially shy, very private people,” she explained, emphasizing their preference for privacy. “And they want to be private,” Jolie added, underscoring that her children are content away from the limelight.
While Jolie’s children may not be aiming for on-screen fame, they are not unfamiliar with the film set. Both Maddox and Pax contributed to the production of Maria, assisting director Pablo Larraín as part of the assistant directing team. Jolie told The Hollywood Reporter, “Mad and Pax were on this one doing AD [assistant directing] work,” adding, “They’ve done that quite a few times, and I think that’s good for them.”
At 49, Jolie appears to respect her children’s desire for privacy, guiding them as they explore the industry from a technical perspective rather than as performers. Her remarks about Maddox and Pax’s involvement reflect her belief in giving her children a taste of hard work and responsibility while respecting their desire to stay out of the spotlight.
Jolie’s thoughtful approach to her children’s potential careers offers a glimpse into her parenting philosophy. Balancing a life in the public eye with raising children who value privacy, Jolie remains supportive of their choices and celebrates their behind-the-scenes skills without the pressure of fame.
