Trump Slams Kamala Harris on Truth Social: ‘America Will Become a WASTELAND!’

Former President Donald Trump took to his Truth Social account to launch a scathing attack on Vice President Kamala Harris following the release of an excerpt from her first major sit-down interview on CNN. Unimpressed by Harris’ responses, Trump wasted no time in criticizing his Democratic opponent, accusing her of incoherently defending policies that he claims will devastate the country.
“I just saw Comrade Kamala Harris’ answer to a very weakly-phrased question, a question that was put in more as a matter of defense than curiosity, but her answer rambled incoherently and declared her ‘values haven’t changed,'” Trump wrote. He then sarcastically agreed, stating, “On that I agree, her values haven’t changed—The Border is going to remain open, not closed, there will be Free Healthcare for Illegal Aliens, Sanctuary Cities, No Cash Bail, Gun Confiscation, Zero Fracking, a Ban on Gasoline-Powered Cars, Private Healthcare will be abolished, a 70-80% tax rate will be put in place, and she will Defund the Police.”
In a dramatic conclusion, Trump warned, “America will become a WASTELAND!” Trump’s comments were in response to an interview in which CNN’s Dana Bash asked Harris to clarify how her positions on certain policies have evolved since her 2020 presidential run. Harris acknowledged that while the details of her policies have shifted, her underlying “values” remain unchanged.
Harris cited two examples: her ongoing support for the Green New Deal and her stance on border policy. She emphasized that her beliefs guiding these policies are consistent, even if the specifics have adapted over time.
Regarding her environmental stance, Harris stated, “I have always believed, and I worked on it, that the climate crisis is real, that it is an urgent matter to which we should apply metrics that include holding ourselves to deadlines around time.” She pointed to the Inflation Reduction Act as evidence of this commitment, explaining that it includes goals for reducing greenhouse gas emissions. “That value has not changed,” Harris affirmed.
Trump’s harsh critique reflects the deepening divide between the two as they continue to battle over key issues leading up to the election. As Harris attempts to frame her positions as consistent with her core values, Trump seizes on every opportunity to paint her policies as dangerous and extreme, ramping up the rhetoric in what is shaping up to be a contentious campaign.
