Donald Trump may have dealt a significant blow to his reelection campaign following a controversial interview about Jewish Americans. The former president made headlines with his Tuesday morning appearance on the conservative radio show “Sid & Friends In The Morning,” where he agreed with the host’s disparaging remarks about Vice President Kamala Harris’ husband, Doug Emhoff.

During the interview, host Sid Rosenberg made inflammatory comments, stating, “He’s a crappy Jew. He’s a horrible Jew.” Trump calmly replied, “Yes,” to Rosenberg’s statement. This exchange quickly went viral after Forward reporter Jacob Kornbluh shared the audio on Twitter, garnering over 350,000 views in just an hour.

The incident prompted immediate backlash, including from Harris’ campaign, which quickly shared the controversial audio. Columbia University lecturer and communications consultant Tom Watson reacted, “Holy s—. Calling Doug Emhoff ‘a horrible Jew’ is not going to end well for Trump… A major moment in this race.”

The Jewish Democratic Council of America (JDCA) also swiftly condemned Trump’s remarks. “Trump’s continued rants about Jews who vote for Democrats, who make up over 70% of Jewish Americans, are overtly antisemitic. Period,” the JDCA stated. “Trump attacking @DouglasEmhoff’s Judaism is absolutely vile. Jewish Americans can’t afford to have Donald Trump back in the White House.”

Former Daily Beast columnist Justin Baragona echoed the sentiment, noting, “Now we’re at the point where Trump world is deciding who the Good and Bad Jews are.” On social media, reactions were similarly critical. “Sounds like he’s imploding,” commented X user Tyler Cannon.

Huffington Post correspondent S.V. Dáte highlighted that Trump, in the same interview, used the term “Palestinian” as an insult directed at Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-NY). “Trump, once again using ‘Palestinian’ as a slur,” wrote Dáte. “Are the Arab/Muslim voters in Michigan paying attention?”

The controversy extended to other social media users, with @LOLGOP tweeting, “If the guy who wants you to think Nazis are fine people thinks I’m a c—– Jew, stitch it on my c—– kippah.” Punchbowl News founder Jake Sherman added, “The ‘good’ or ‘bad’ Jew construct is really antithetical to Judaism.” This sentiment was supported by X user Steve Kornacki’s khakis, who responded, “Thank you, Jake. You can put on your big boy pants now and call him an antisemite.”

Trump’s comments have reignited debates about antisemitism and the impact of his rhetoric on Jewish Americans. As the fallout continues, it remains to be seen how this incident will affect his reelection campaign and his standing with voters.
