Blake Shelton’s Light-Hearted Teasing as Gwen Stefani Makes ‘The Voice’ Comeback Post His Departure
Gwen Stefani is back in the spotlight and making a return to “The Voice” for season 24, and according to her husband, Blake Shelton, it’s not just about family time. Blake, who recently left the NBC competition series, humorously shared on Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Nov. 8 that Gwen’s swift return might be attributed to the allure of her own career and the enticing power of financial incentives.
While jokingly suggesting that perhaps Gwen wasn’t as eager for “family time” as he initially thought, Blake emphasized that their career decisions are independent of each other. Acknowledging Gwen’s status as a force in the industry, he explained, “She’s Gwen Stefani, and that’s its own machine, you know what I’m saying? So it’s like, ‘Oh wait, oh, you’re going back? Because I just quit. So I’ll catch you next spring.'”
Despite Blake’s absence from “The Voice,” he is set to appear on TV in his own series, “Barmageddon,” whose second season premieres on Nov. 13 with a guest appearance from Gwen. Blake playfully revealed that Gwen, known for her supportive nature on “The Voice,” becomes unexpectedly competitive when playing against him on “Barmageddon,” even adopting the “Let’s go” spirit akin to Tom Brady, told HollywoodLife.
Blake and Gwen tied the knot in 2021, six years after her divorce from ex-husband Gavin Rossdale. Reflecting on their romance at the unveiling of Gwen’s Hollywood Walk of Fame star last month, Blake fondly recalled their initial meeting on season seven of “The Voice,” emphasizing Gwen’s down-to-earth nature as a mother.
