Meghan Markle to Debut as Producer in New Netflix Venture with Prince Harry
Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex and former star of the hit series “Suits”, is set to take on a new role as a producer for her and Prince Harry’s upcoming Netflix projects.
This comes as part of their £80m deal with the streaming giant. Meghan’s involvement in a producing capacity indicates her desire to have more influence over the content.
Archewell Productions, owned by the royal couple, has recently acquired the film rights to the popular romance novel, “Meet Me at the Lake”, for an estimated $3.8m.
Prince Harry’s previous endeavor, “Heart of Invictus”, which he executively produced, is slated to premiere next Thursday.
Entertainment expert and CEO of MarkMeets, Mark Boardman, shared with the Daily Express US that Meghan is likely gearing up to make a significant mark in the entertainment world, with a focus on philanthropic initiatives.
Although Meghan’s acting future remains uncertain, her potential role in the adaptation of “Meet Me at the Lake” seems fitting given its romantic plotline, which parallels the early stages of her relationship with Harry.
Boardman emphasized that the couple’s focus should be steering away from controversial public revelations. He also noted that the ongoing writers’ and SAG strikes have paused their next steps, allowing them to carefully plan their forthcoming projects.
