Kellyanne Conway’s memoir sales dropped after Trump criticizes her and them “crazy husband” on Truth Social
“Here’s the Deal” doesn’t fare well when compared to other memoirs from White House figures
Since its May 24 release, Kellyanne Conway’s biography “Here’s the Deal,” which details her time as Donald Trump‘s campaign manager and political adviser, has sold 25,003 copies.
Despite hitting the top of the New York Times best-seller list, sales of the 500-page volume fell short of those of other White House tell-all memoirs, AS PER The Wrap reported.
According to the Intelligencer, Mary Trump’s bombshell book about her uncle, “Too Much and Never Enough,” sold 950,000 copies in its first 24 hours. In its first week, groundbreaking journalist Bob Woodward’s book “Rage” sold 600,000 editions.
Trump blasted Conway’s memoir, which includes an account about how Trump considered pulling out of the 2016 presidential race only weeks before Election Day.
Conway writes in an excerpt published ahead to the book’s release that he considered withdrawing after the infamous Access Hollywood audio surfaced, but she urged him to stay in the running.
Conway’s account of that moment was “totally false,” Trump’s chief spokesperson Liz Harrington told The Daily Beast at the time the piece was published. Following its release, Trump expressed his own opinions on his social media channel Truth Social on May 26.
“Kellyanne Conway never told me that she thought we lost the election. If she had I wouldn’t have dealt with her any longer – she would have been wrong – could go back to her crazy husband,” Trump wrote, referencing Conway’s husband George Conway, who has been extraordinarily vocal about being anti-Trump. “Writing books can make people say some very strange things.”
Nonetheless, “Here’s the Deal” fared far better than memoirs by other White House figures such as Chris Christie (less than 3,000 copies sold in its first week) and, most recently, Meghan McCain.
The Washington Examiner stated that McCain’s “Bad Republican” memoir sold only 244 copies in its first few days, citing an NPD Book Scan provided to Secrets.
McCain, a former host on “The View” and the daughter of John McCain, has claimed that “Bad Republican” is a hit audiobook and that the hard copy was only intended as a “collectible for people who have already downloaded and consumed it.”
If the numbers are accurate, Conway’s memoir has already outsold McCain’s 100 times over.
