Prince William Balances Family and Royal Duties Amid Kate Middleton’s Health Battle
Prince William is navigating a challenging period as he balances his royal responsibilities with caring for his wife, Kate Middleton, who has been diagnosed with cancer, according to royal expert Andrew Morton.
Speaking with The Mirror, Morton praised the Prince of Wales for demonstrating “maturity, common sense, and empathy” during this difficult time. Despite personal struggles, William has continued to fulfill numerous official engagements and stepped in for King Charles at several high-profile events this year.
“I don’t envy his role at the moment – he’s got a lot on his plate,” Morton said. “But William is handling it as well as you can do when you’ve got a wife who has been seriously ill and three children who need support and comfort.”
The royal author highlighted the difficulty of managing a long-term illness alongside public duties. “For anyone dealing with a long-term illness, especially in that kind of position, it’s very difficult,” Morton added.
Morton also reflected on the guidance William received from his grandmother, the late Queen Elizabeth II, who would be proud of how he is handling his dual roles as a devoted family man and a dedicated Prince of Wales.
“The Queen always used to say you’ve got to be seen to be believed, and that’s as true today as it was 50 years ago. So the show has to go on,” Morton noted. He shared that the Queen had often advised William to “keep calm and carry on,” wisdom that now resonates deeply as he continues to juggle his duties as a “father, nurse, and Prince of Wales.”
Morton also revealed how the late Queen prepared William for his future responsibilities. “He used to see her every weekend when he was a pupil at Eton. They used to chat about his future duties, and she prepared him in a very careful way. William owes the Queen an awful lot, as do they all.”
As William navigates this challenging time, his steadfast commitment to both his family and his royal role serves as a testament to his resilience and dedication—qualities that reflect the legacy of the late Queen.
