George Clooney’s Broken Promise After First Marriage May Hold the Key to His Success
George Clooney once famously vowed never to marry again after his divorce from actress Talia Balsam in the early 1990s. But meeting human rights attorney Amal Clooney (née Alamuddin) in 2013 changed everything, and the 63-year-old actor now credits Amal, 46, for keeping him “young and active,” according to Daily Mail sources.
Clooney initially declared to journalist Barbara Walters that marriage was off the table after his first union ended. However, when he was introduced to Amal through a mutual friend during dinner at his Italian home, everything shifted. After months of exchanging emails, the pair had their first date in London and less than a year later, George proposed.
“George and his first wife Talia Balsam divorced in 1993. That’s when he swore off marriage,” a source said. “He played the field for years until he fell in love with Amal and married her over ten years ago.” The couple wed in September 2014 and welcomed twins Ella and Alexander in 2017. Their family dynamic has significantly influenced George’s lifestyle.
“Most days start at the crack of dawn with the twins running into their bedroom and jumping on the bed,” the insider revealed. “Amal doesn’t let George go back to sleep. They both play with the kids, then go for a long walk.”
The source added, “She’s seventeen years his junior and makes him feel youthful again. If it wasn’t for Amal and the kids, he says he’d be taking naps whenever he could and not leading the type of exciting life he does now.”
Amal has also introduced healthier habits into George’s routine. “He no longer skips breakfast, and pasta isn’t a daily indulgence anymore—it’s a treat,” the source noted. “At home, it’s mainly proteins and healthy meals, and when they eat out, it’s usually sushi.”
The couple also works out together, which has helped George maintain his fitness. “Pre-Amal, he had a tendency to put on a little weight. Not anymore, especially knowing he’s often seen next to his beautiful wife.”
Despite his focus on family, Clooney’s career continues to thrive. He is set to make his Broadway debut next year as Edward R. Murrow in Good Night and Good Luck. Reflecting on their relationship, Clooney often acknowledges how Amal and their twins have transformed his life. “She’s changed everything for him—for the better,” a source concluded.
