Meghan Markle has been hit with fresh accusations of failing to make a lasting impact, even more so than her husband, Prince Harry. British TV host and PR expert Nick Ede recently branded the couple as lacking “purpose,” claiming they haven’t managed to carve out a meaningful niche.

Speaking candidly, Ede remarked, “They’ve kind of been everywhere, but they haven’t really got a core audience,” adding bluntly, “No one cares.” Ede recalled a conversation in Los Angeles with an unnamed celebrity who reportedly dismissed the Sussexes’ relevance. “A really big celeb was there going, ‘The thing is, we’ve got Beyoncé, we’ve got Goldie Hawn…they’re our royalty. You know, we’ve got George Clooney, we’ve got Leo.

Like, we don’t really need these two.’” Ede noted that while Prince Harry has found his purpose through projects like the Invictus Games, Meghan appears to lack a clear direction. “People have to have a purpose. I think [Prince Harry] does, with the Invictus Games. But she hasn’t really got one. There’s no purpose there,” he claimed.

Comparing their trajectory to fleeting reality TV fame, Ede remarked, “I equate it to when a reality star is on Dancing with the Stars or Big Brother, and you suddenly realize they’re going to be huge. And, you know, the shoe brands go, right? They’re going to throw all like…‘Yeah, I’ll take every deal.’ And you see them everywhere, and then they kind of flop.”

The Sussexes, once viewed as a groundbreaking duo following their departure from royal duties, have faced mounting scrutiny over their public and professional efforts. While Harry has drawn praise for his work with veterans and mental health initiatives, Meghan’s ventures, including her podcast and media collaborations, have faced mixed reviews.

Despite these critiques, Meghan has continued to champion causes like gender equality and social justice, though critics like Ede argue that her impact pales compared to other global icons. Ede’s remarks add to ongoing debates about the couple’s relevance and influence, especially in Hollywood’s crowded celebrity landscape. As the Sussexes forge ahead with their independent careers, questions persist about how they can redefine their legacy beyond the royal brand.
