“You Lie!”: Sarah Palin Clashes with Mehdi Hasan Over Biden’s Energy Record and Anti-War Claims
Former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin clashed with former MSNBC host Mehdi Hasan on Piers Morgan’s roundtable show, where tensions flared as Hasan pressed her on perceived inconsistencies in her anti-war stance and criticism of President Joe Biden’s energy policies. The heated exchange erupted as Hasan challenged Palin’s depiction of herself and the MAGA movement as “anti-war” while questioning her stance on Biden’s approach to energy production, reported Newsweek.
Hasan began by referencing Palin’s 2008 vice-presidential campaign alongside the late Senator John McCain, whom Hasan described as one of the “most warmongering senators” he had witnessed. “Why did you run with John McCain?” Hasan asked, suggesting McCain would have led the U.S. into more conflicts if elected. Palin immediately scoffed, saying, “You don’t know that!”
Hasan countered by recalling McCain’s infamous “bomb, bomb, bomb Iran” remark, adding, “I’m just saying, because you say you’re against war abroad, and yet, I just want to remind everyone, you ran with the most warmongering senator in my lifetime. I know why you ran, you wanted power. I’m just saying you’re not consistent.”
Attempting to redirect, Palin insisted, “I wanted to talk about energy production.” Hasan, however, pressed further, noting that energy production in the U.S. has been robust under Biden’s administration. “Under the Biden administration, there is record energy production,” Hasan pointed out.
“No!” Palin retorted, claiming, “On day one, what the Biden administration did was halt so much of our exploration and construction of pipelines.” As she spoke over Hasan, she added sharply, “You lie! You’re a liar, you lie!”
Hasan then challenged her assertion directly. “Do you know he handed out more licenses than Trump? Did you know that?” he asked. “Destiny just said energy’s higher, and you said no. So if anyone lied, you did.” This point resonated with data indicating that U.S. oil production is currently at high levels, surpassing much of what was produced during the Trump administration.
The debate over Biden’s energy policy and Palin’s anti-war position left the roundtable divided. Palin’s strong rebuke and Hasan’s insistence on Biden’s record underscored the polarizing viewpoints on U.S. energy strategy and foreign policy within the broader political conversation.
