Kim Kardashian Celebrates the Menendez Brothers’ Stunning ‘Second Chance at Life
Kim Kardashian expressed her support for the latest development in the case of Erik and Lyle Menendez after Los Angeles District Attorney George Gascón recommended a resentencing for the brothers, who were convicted of killing their parents in 1996. Kardashian took to her Instagram Stories to share her thoughts, celebrating what she called a “second chance” for the Menendez brothers.
In a heartfelt message, Kardashian wrote, “The Menendez brothers were granted a second chance at life and will wake up tomorrow finally eligible for a parole hearing.” She expressed gratitude to DA Gascón for “righting a significant wrong” and commended his dedication to fairness and justice.
The SKIMS founder, who has been vocal about her belief that the brothers should be released, shared her optimism, saying, “They could be released in as early as six months.” Kardashian thanked Gascón directly, adding, “Thank you, George Gascón, for revisiting the Menéndez brothers’ case and righting a significant wrong. Your commitment to truth and fairness is commendable.”
Kardashian also addressed the many supporters who have advocated for the Menendez brothers’ release, including family, friends, and millions of people who have voiced their support online. “Society’s understanding of child abuse has evolved,” Kardashian noted, “and social media empowers us to question the system in place. I believe in the justice system’s ability to evolve, and I am grateful for a society where we can challenge decisions and seek justice.”
The Daily Mail reports that Kardashian, who passed California’s “baby bar” exam in 2021, concluded her statement with a message of encouragement: “Never stop questioning.” Following this, she posted a second message confirming the brothers’ new eligibility for parole, now that their sentence has been reduced to 50 years to life.
Kardashian previously voiced her stance in an op-ed published earlier this month, advocating for Erik and Lyle Menendez’s release. With a family background in law—her father, Robert Kardashian, was part of O.J. Simpson’s defense team—Kardashian has become an active voice in criminal justice reform. Her public support adds weight to the Menendez brothers’ case, emphasizing the importance of evolving perspectives on justice and accountability.
