Van Jones Mocks Trump’s ‘Dance Party’ Town Hall: ‘That’s a Great Week?’
Donald Trump’s recent town hall, which unexpectedly turned into a 40-minute dance session, was labeled part of a “great week” on the campaign trail, according to one of his former advisers. This comment sparked laughter during a CNN panel on Monday night.
The moment unfolded on The Source with anchor Kaitlan Collins when Trump supporter and former adviser David Urban praised the campaign’s performance, saying, “They had a great week last week.” Seated next to Urban, former Obama White House official Van Jones couldn’t help but burst into laughter at the claim.
Urban, defending his stance, suggested that the media holds an “anti-Trump” bias, prompting more amusement from Jones, who playfully mimicked Trump’s now-infamous dance moves. “That’s a great week?” Jones asked, still laughing as he mimicked Trump’s awkward dance gestures.
Urban pointed to the large crowds outside a Pennsylvania McDonald’s where Trump made an appearance as proof of the former president’s strong support. He claimed that enthusiasm for Trump’s campaign is “unprecedented,” likening it to a “Spinal Tap” reference by saying it’s turned up to “11.”
However, Jones couldn’t resist bringing the conversation back to Trump’s dance routine. “What I’m telling you is when your candidate’s up there doing this for 40 minutes,” Jones said, chuckling as he repeated the dance gestures.
Urban, grinning, responded, “People love him.” Without missing a beat, Jones quipped, “Yeah, crazy people. People who are insane. Nobody loved that.” He continued the light-hearted exchange, adding, “The people on stage did not love that – it was not good.”
Despite the laughter, Urban insisted, “They loved it, I’m telling you, they loved it,” maintaining that Trump’s unique style resonates with his base. The jovial banter between Jones and Urban highlighted the contrast in how the two view Trump’s campaign. While Urban defended the town hall as evidence of Trump’s continued appeal, Jones made it clear that, to him, the bizarre spectacle was far from a successful week on the trail.
