Obama Takes a Jab at Trump While Campaigning for Kamala Harris, Sparking Laughter and Online Reactions
Barack Obama recently hit the campaign trail to show his support for Kamala Harris, and during a speech, he playfully mocked Donald Trump, questioning his diaper-changing experience. The humorous remark came as Obama praised one of Harris’s key policy proposals—a $6,000 child tax credit for new parents. This initiative aims to ease the financial burden of raising young children by covering essentials like cribs and diapers.
While commending Harris’s plan, Obama quipped, “She wants to make it easier to afford stuff like a crib, or a car seat or diapers.” He then shared a personal anecdote about the cost of diapers when his first daughter, Malia, was born in 1998. According to Newsweek, Obama asked the crowd, “I remember changing diapers. Do you think Donald Trump ever changed a diaper?”
One audience member shouted, “His own,” causing the crowd, and Obama, to burst into laughter. Obama responded with a grin, “I almost said that, but I decided I shouldn’t say it.” The lighthearted moment quickly spread across social media, where users offered their own takes. One X user joked, “Trump will now be talking about diapers for the rest of the campaign.”
Another commented, “And the supporter nails it! Trump’s dirty diapers are apparently well-known.” Others chimed in with similar humor, with one person noting, “It must piss off Trump that Obama is the only one who can really burn his a** lol.” Amid the humor, Obama used his speech to focus on serious policy differences, highlighting Harris’s commitment to supporting middle-class families.
“Instead of giving more tax breaks to billionaires and raising prices on working families, Kamala will give a tax cut to 100 million middle-class and working people here in America,” Obama said. Trump’s team, however, pushed back.
Steven Cheung, Trump’s communications director, criticized Obama, saying, “Barack Hussein Obama couldn’t even make a coherent defense of Kamala Harris’ record because even he knows she represents a disastrous four years of skyrocketing inflation, an out-of-control border, and rampant crime that terrorizes communities across the country.”
At the rally, Obama didn’t hold back on Trump, dedicating a significant portion of his speech to criticizing his successor. While acknowledging that many voters are frustrated by the economy, he questioned why anyone would think Trump could offer real solutions.
“There is absolutely no evidence that this man thinks about anybody but himself,” Obama said, adding, “Donald Trump is a 78-year-old billionaire who has not stopped whining about his problems since he rode down his golden escalator nine years ago,” as reported by The Daily Beast.
